Town of Ellicott


The following licenses can be obtained at the Town Clerk's office on Mon-Fri from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. For telephone inquiries call 665-5317 (x200).

Marriage License:  Marriage licenses can be applied for at the Town Clerk's Office.  To obtain a license both parties must be present and have the following:

           * Proper photo identification; either a driver's license (or a non – driver's ID card), passport or a Military ID.

           * Birth certificate.

           * Divorce documents.

           * There is a waiting period of 24 hours and the license is valid for sixty (60) days.

           * There is a fee of $40.

NOTE -- Persons younger than 18 years of age must be accompanied by parent or guardian.

Dog License: Required for all dogs four (4) months or older harbored within the Town of Ellicott. Renewable annually with proof of current rabies vaccination.  ALL DOGS IN NEW YORK STATE MUST BE VACCINATED.  Proof of spaying/neutering is also required.  The license fee for unspayed/unneutered dogs is $13.00 per year.  The fee for spayed/neutered dogs is $5.00.  You must come to the Town Clerks office to license your dog for the first time.  (Note - you can now license your dog at the Celoron Village Hall as well.)  Annual renewal fees may be mailed.  Dogs adopted at the Chautauqua Co. Humane Society may be licensed at their facility on Strunk Rd.

Conservation Licenses (Hunting/Fishing): Residents are required to show NY State drivers license as proof of residency. There are many different requirements and qualifications for these licenses. License year is October 1 - September 30. Children under 16 years of age do not need a fishing license. Call the Town Clerk's office for more information.

Peddler's License: Required for any door-to-door solicitation.  Permits normally take 24 hours while a background check is conducted.  Separate permits required for Town and Village.  Fees are $5.00 per day or $25.00 per year.  Available here or at the respective Clerks' offices.  (Include copy of drivers license.)

Games of Chance/Bingo: License required for organizations to operate these games. Application forms can be obtained at the Town Clerk's office.

Disabled Parking: Temporary or Permanent parking permits for persons with disabilities are issued free with application signed by a doctor.  Forms may be obtained here or at the Town Clerk's office.
