Minutes of a Regular Meetin= g of the

Town Council of the Town of= Ellicott

held at = the Administration Building,

215 S. Work Street, Falconer, N.Y. on

May 5, 2= 008 at 7:00 P.M.

 

Present: Councilman Beckerink, Councilman Lode= stro, Councilman Heintzelman, Town Clerk Erlandson, Highway Superintendent Shellhouse. 

 

Absent: Supervisor Miller, Councilman Orlando.=

 

Deputy Supervisor Heintzelman opened the meeting at 7:00 PM and led the Town Council in the Pledge of Allegiance.    Town Clerk Erlandson called t= he roll. 

 

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

 

MOTION by Councilman Lodestro, seconded by Councilman Beckerink to accept the minu= tes of the April 21, 2008 meeting as presented by the Town Clerk.

PRIVILEGE OF THE FLOOR

 

Mr. = James Walker, 3880 E. Ross Mills Rd. expressed se= veral concerns re property assessments in the Town of Ellicott.  In his opinion, assessing in the T= own is not being conducted in a fair, accurate or timely manner.  He feels that assessments are not = based on real estate market conditions.

TOWN OFFICERS’ REPORTS

 

Counc= ilman Lodestro reported that the upgrades to the ramp at the handicapped entr= ance on the north side of the Town of Ellicott Administration Building have been completed.   He explained= that automatic door openers and new signage still need to be installed.

 

Mr. L= odestro also reported that the gasoline tanks at the Ellicott Highway Dept. recentl= y took in water.  According to Mr. Lodestro, the water in the gasoline caused extensive engine damage to sever= al Town of Ellicott police cars.  Highway Superint= endent Shellhouse will look into the matter. 

 

Counc= ilman Beckerink reported that the Ellicott Budget Committee would be meeting = on May 7, 2008.

 

Mr. B= eckerink also reported that the 2008 re-assessment notices have been mailed to prope= rty owners.

 

Counc= ilman Heintzelman reported that the Ellicott Zoning Commission will meet on M= ay 15, 2008.  The commission will discuss the recent grant the Town of Ellicott received to conduct a comprehensive plan for the Town.

 

Mr. Heintzelman asked about the status of amending Section 146-42 of the To= wn of Ellicott Code regarding permitted uses in Industrial Parks.   (Minutes 1/21/08 et. seq.)

 

Mr. Heintzelman also noted that construction of the new pump station in West Ellicott is underway.

 

OLD BUSINESS

= Advertise for Bids (New Street Sweeper)=

 

Motion by Councilman Lodestro, seconded by Councilman Beckerink authorizing the Ellicott Highway Superintendent to advertise for bids for a new street sweeper; bids to be returned no later than May 29, 2008 at 10= :00 AM.

Payment of Claims=

MOTION by Councilman Heintzelman, seconded by Councilman Beckerink to pay = 2008 current claims #420-480, inclusive, in the amount of $41,326.37 and cha= rge to the proper fund or account.
